Testimonial by dad......
From the time my wife's water broke until she gave birth to our daughter, 23 hours elapsed. Going into the birth, my wife's desire was for a natural delivery. We expressed this very clearly to Jeni and our midwife. Initially, because her water broke so early, it looked like we might have to get a c-section, even though our child and my wife did not show any signs of stress or complications. If we hadn't had Jeni on our side early on, we probably would have been informed by the physician within 3 or 4 hours that a c-section was our only choice. Jeni informed us that if things progress regularly there really would not be a need for one. Jeni patiently waited with us from early in the morning thoroughout the day as we waited for the contractions to progress, which they did ever so slowly. Around 6 or 7 pm the contractions started to come on more steadily. At this point, my wife began exhibiting all the normal signs of labor; the magnitude and spectrum of which I had not become fully aware. By this point, Jeni was not only helping my wife but she was helping me (!) through this process. Without a doubt, if Jeni was not with us (which surprisingly there really isn't anyone there except you and your wife and a nurse who comes and goes) I would have demanded a physician's attention and probably called for an immediate c-section! :) She was quite simply our savior in the delivery room. She has been through this before, so we trusted her to talk us through the process and let all the natural processes run their course. For the last several hours of labor, my wife was only able to concentrate on everything that was happening with her body and the instructions from Jeni. Not only did she help my wife, but Jeni also coached me on how to help my wife during the labor. She told me what I could do to help my wife with her labor. If she was not there I would've had no idea how to be of assistance, especially since my wife wasn't in any condition to tell me what to do. Everytime my wife reached a new stage in the labor, Jeni would provide a reassuring comment to us to let us know this was a good sign. Our labor turned out to be somewhat lengthy but never at any stage was there any abnormal stress on my wife or the baby. We trusted Jeni as we knew she would point out if anything took a turn for the worse. She helped us through the most intense stages of labor and gave me confidence that everything was fine, even when my wife seemed at the end of her rope. My wife and I gave birth to a beautiful girl at 3:30 am on August 26th! Jeni was there to see this happen and help us bring this little girl into the world. Jeni never waived and stayed with us through the entire 20+ hour delivery! For that we owe her so much, and can wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone else! Randy S. of West Palm Beach. August 2009
